Civil War memorials the Denver area
There
is a 13" mortar, 11" Dahlgren (which served on the USS Canandaigua,
it being the first ship to respond to the sinking of the USS Housatonic by the
Hunley and 6.4" (100 pounder) Parrott Rifle in Denver City Park . At one
time, there were 2 bronze Napoleon 12 pounders were on the steps
of the Capitol but they have moved to another location, possibly History
Colorado.

Riverside GAR Plot11" Dahlgren
In the 1880s, veterans from the GAR posts in the Denver area purchased a plot of land in Riverside Cemetery. This was intended to be the final resting place for the members. Approximately 10 years, ago SUVCW Camp 100 restored and significantly improved the Memorial which is part of the plot. Click here to read the full story with pictures.
